We prepared a bed for garlic (to be planted around the autumnal equinox in March) by:
- spreading ash,
- spreading compost
- sowing flax, peas, fenugreek, millet, sunflower (these last two will winter kill), kale, winter radish, lettuce, coriander (cilantro), carrot, corn salad, spring onions and spinach
- mulching lightly with hay
There are 13 species from 9 botanical families. The family Poaceae will disappear in winter when the millet dies, leaving 8 families.
